Five including newborn killed, two injured in Jajarkot jeep accident

Five people including a newborn have died in a jeep accident that occurred in Jajarkot district on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old jeep driver, Indrajit Thapa, Shila Pun, 65, Sarada Thapa, 33, Laxmi Pun Roka, 18, and her one-month old son Alochan Roka, the District Police Office, Jajarkot said.

The Double Cab Bolero jeep, Ga 3 Cha 9845, had met with an accident on the Birkhola-Kaina-Kadke Road in Nalgad Municipality-3 in Jajarkot at around 11 pm yesterday.

Seven people were traveling in the ill-fated jeep, according to the Jajarkot police.

The injured who were taken to the Nalgad Municipal Hospital died in the course of treatment and their bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the hospital.

Likewise, 19-year-old Janak Thapa of Nalgadh Municipality-3, Karuwa, and Jivan BK, 21, of Nalgad Municipality-7, sustained injuries.

The jeep fell some 800 meters down the road apparently due to brake failure, the police said.
