Nirmala Sharma elected as FNJ President

Nirmala Sharma has been elected as the president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).

When the votes were counted in other provinces except Madhesh Province, she led her nearest rival Ramesh Bista by a margin of 1,144 votes.

A total of 772 votes were cast in Madhesh Province, which is less than the lead taken by Sharma.

According to the latest vote count, Sharma has received 3,973 votes against 2,829 votes received by Bista.

Sharma is the candidate for the FNJ president jointly fielded by Nepal Press Union and Press Chautari Nepal.

Sharma's panel is also taking the lead in other office-bearers.

Deepak Acharya and Ram Prasad Dahal are taking the lead from Sharma's panel as senior vice president and general secretary, respectively.

The final vote results will be made public only on Sunday.
