The government has increased fares of public vehicles.
The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) on Monday adjusted the fares of public buses operating on inter-province routes.
According to the Department, the fare for public vehicles increased by 3.30 percent followed by 0.81 percent for cargo vehicles on the hilly routes and 0.05 percent for those operating on the Terai routes.
The bus fares had been adjusted on August 16, 2023 for the last time.
With the fare hike, the normal fare for the 251 km Kalaiya-Tansen-Palpa route is now Rs 753. Passengers traveling from Kathmandu to Ilam will now pay a normal fare of Rs 2,052, while those traveling from Kathmandu to Pokhara will pay Rs 652.
