Former Prime Minister and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ left for Sri Lanka on Wednesday to attend the International Peoples' Assembly (IPA) conference. The high-level event, themed "The Asian Dialogue on Regional Stability and Economic Resilience," is scheduled to run from July 17 to 19 in Colombo.
Prachanda is leading a Nepali delegation that includes prominent NCP leaders Balram Baskota, Baldev Chaudhary, Dama Sharma, Madhav Panta, and Ganga Dahal. The three-day summit brings together communist, socialist, progressive, and leftist political leaders from across Asia and Oceania, including representatives from China, India, Japan, Pakistan, Australia, and Iran.
The conference will focus on critical regional issues, including climate change, global and regional economic crises, militarization, foreign intervention in Asia, and strategies for building regional peace and socialist cooperation. On the sidelines, Prachanda is scheduled to hold bilateral talks and courtesy meetings with Sri Lanka's President and Prime Minister, as well as top leaders from Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and Communist Party of Sri Lanka.
