Kaski District Court seeks 6.5 mln bail from Rabi Lamichhane

The District Court, Kaski has sought a bail of Rs 6.5 million from former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

A bench of districtJudge Nitij Rai on Thursday decided to seek the aforementioned bail from Lamichhane.

The order was issued against RSP President Lamichhane in the Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case.

A case has been filed against Lamichhane for illegally laundering money by defrauding the cooperative in an organized manner.

Along with Lamichhane, his business partners former DIG Chhabilal Banjade Joshi, Leela Pachain, Ram Bahadur Khanal, former MPs Mina Gurung, Krishna Bahadur Gurung and Aarti Gurung have also been arrested in this case.

The case involves 44 defendants, with 31 facing charges of cooperative fraud. These defendants are collectively liable for over Rs 1.514 billion.

Charge sheets have been filed against 19 individuals, including Rabi, for organized crime. Additionally, four individuals face charges of money laundering, and two are charged in connection with cryptocurrency offenses.

Furthermore, five individuals, including Rabi's wife Nikita, are defendants in a case related to property confiscation.
