Traffic on the East-West Highway has been disrupted after a bridge collapsed at Dumkibas in Nawalparasi East.

The bridge over the Binayi River, which lies to the east of Dumkibas, collapsed at 5:30 pm on Friday.

Police have said that the bridge collapsed due to an excessive load of the Indian freight lorry. The lorry got stuck on the bridge after the bridge collapsed.

Police have stopped vehicles plying the East-West Highway at Daunne and Arunkhola after the bridge collapsed.

The District Police Office, Nawalparasi (East) said they are working to open a diversion track for an alternative route.
