The snowfall has occurred in the last week of the Nepali month Paush in the hilly district of Manang.
This snowfall has brought cheers to the locals of Manang. Despite fall in the mercury, there had been no snowfall in the district. It had worried the locals lest their crops would fail due to lack of snowfall.
With the snowfall, the hills and terrains have now worn a silver look, said Mukhiya Gurung, a farmer of Nesyang Rural Municipality-1, Pisang.
He said farmers have been happy after the snowfall occurred toward the end of Paush.
"The snowfall has started. It has brought cheers to local farmers," he said.
The snowfall makes the soil fertile leading to bountiful crop yields, he said.
According to farmers, the snowfall will help enrich the productions of valuable medicinal herbs including Yarchagumba, Nirmansi, Panchaule, chiraito, etc., in the upper lands and help grow crops in the lower part of the district.

Yagya Ghale of Naso Rural Municipality-8, Tachai, said that the tourism sector has been affected due to the lack of snowfall.
"The hilly district, which has no industries, was gradually losing its natural beauty due to the lack of snowfall," he said, "Snowfall adds beauty to the hilly terrain, thereby attracting tourists."
Due to the lack of timely snowfall, resulted in by climate change, has left more than a half of the mountainous regions in Annapurna, Gangapurna and Lamjung devoid of snow.
"The global warming has disrupted snowfall patterns, thereby impacting the crop yields in the hilly region," said Thupten Lama, the ward chair of Naso Rurral Municipality-5.
