Writer Khanal passes away

Writer and journalist Shreedhar Khanal passed away today at the age of 94.

Khanal, who wrote under the pseudonym 'Dirghabahu,' was known for his espionage novels and his literary works include Murkutta Las, Mejarko Sarpa, Bikhalu Ichhchhatra, Aunle Manchhe, Bahra Bajeko Ghanti and Panko Gulam.

His comedy works such as Namari Sansar Dekhinna, Ullibilli, and Chatyang Chutung, have also gained widespread popularity in Nepali literature, according to Dr Ramesh Chandra Neupane who has studied on Khanal's literary works. Khanal was celebrated for his fearless journalism.

He is survived by his six daughters and a son Brajesh Khanal, who is also a wtiter.

The last rites of the late Shreedhar Khanal are scheduled to be held today at Pashupati Aryaghat, according to the family source.
