1 killed, 11 injured in Sindhuli microbus accident

A person died and 11 others sustained injuries in a microbus accident in Sindhuli district. Four of the injured are in critical condition.

The micro bus, Ba 3 Kha 8445, fell off the road at Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-7,  Kandhungri while it was heading to Janakpur from Kathmandu on the BP Highway on Thursday evening, said the District Police Office, Sindhuli.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Nirmal Gupta, a resident of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City-10, Dhanusha, informed DSP Anil Kumar Khadka of the DPO, Sindhuli.

"Gupta, who was seriously injured in the accident, died at Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre last night during treatment," Khadka told Nepalkhabar. "Four of the 11 injured are in critical condition."

DSP Khadka said that the two seriously injured were taken to the Trauma Center from Dhulikhel Hospital in Kathmandu.

Richawan Nadaf, 23, and Manika Nadaf, 23, of Janakpur-12, are currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center Kathmandu.

DSP Khadka said that the remaining two injured are undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital.

Similarly, four injured are being treated at Sunkoshi Community Hospital in Khurkot. Two have been discharged after minor treatment.

Police have stated that the micro bus crashed into a divider while the vehicle was moving and fell off the road that led to the accident.

Police said they investigating the case after taking the microbus driver, 32-year-old Sanjay Kumar Mahato, into custody.
