In a heartwarming initiative, 1,000 students in Nepal's Madhesh Province received bicycles to ease their commute to school. The "International Bicycle Project," supported by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), aims to improve access to education for children in rural areas.

The project, which kicked off with a ceremony at Shree Nrisingh Secondary School in Birgunj, will benefit 504 students in Bara District and 496 in Parsa District. Officials from the Chinese Embassy, local government, and the CFRD emphasized the importance of education and the positive impact of the bicycle donations on students' lives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Birgunj Municipality Mr. Imtiyaz Alam said, "The support will enable students to attend classes more regularly and on time, improving academic performance and overall learning outcomes and also empower them by fostering independence and self-reliance, additionally alleviating the economic burden on families who might otherwise need to arrange alternative transportation."

The project, implemented in collaboration with Hello Inc., has previously benefited students in Laos and Cambodia. This year, 1,000 bicycles will be distributed in Nepal, with an additional 1,000 planned for 2025.

The initiative has been praised by local officials and the international community, with the project recognized as a "Global Best Poverty Reduction Practice" by several prominent organizations.

This initiative not only provides practical assistance to students but also symbolizes a commitment to improving lives and strengthening international cooperation.
