A young woman riding a motorcycle who sustained injuries after being hit by a car accident in Bhaktapur has died in the course of treatment. Her three-year-old daughter was injured in the accident.
Sapana Rai, 23, the wife of Raju Rai, 29, a resident of Patlepani Rural Municipality-6 in Bhojpur and currently at at Pepsicola, died in the accident, said Police Inspector Tekendra Paudel, Acting Information Officer of the District Police Range, Bhaktapur.
According to Police Inspector Paudel, a car (Bagmati Province 01-027 Cha 927) heading to Magargaun from from Pepsicola in Dibyeshwari in Madhyapurthimi Municipality-2 hit the motorcycle (Ba-50 Pa-741) heading in the same direction.
“The accident occurred when Raju was riding the motorcycle while leaving his wife and three-year-old daughter were the pillion riders,” Police Inspector Paudel told Nepalkhabar. “The seriously injured Sapana was immediately taken to Kathmandu Medical College for treatment. She died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday evening."
His daughter Ishwari Rai, who was injured in the accident, has been discharged after treatment. The car driver, Krishna Prasad Gautam of Budhanilkantha-4, Kathmandu, has been arrested, said Inspector Paudel.
