A national dialogue on the right to food and food sovereignty, organized by Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) and partners, concluded here in the Kathmandu Valley with a call for systemic reforms to ensure food security for all Nepali people.
The event brought together policymakers, civil society, and experts to address challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and insufficient support for small farmers.
"Climate change and economic inequality remain significant challenges to ensuring food security in Nepal," stated Ramnath Adhikari, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, "By investing in resilience, empowering farmers, and fostering collaboration, we aim to ensure the right to food for all Nepali people."
The dialogue highlighted the need to implement the Right to Food and Food Sovereignty Act, 2018, and build inclusive, resilient food systems. Participants emphasized the importance of addressing issues such as gender inequality, limited resources, and weak coordination among government agencies.
