The corruption rate has gone up Nepal. According to a Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), 2024, unveiled by Transparency International, Nepal's ranking slipped one position compared to last year.
According to the CPI, 2024, Nepal has scored 34 points out of 100. Nepal's score was 35 last year. Following a one-point drop in its score, TI has recommended that Nepal intensify its anti-graft activities.
According to the CPI, 2024, Denmark has constantly maintained its position as the least corrupt country over the last seven years. Out of 180 countries, Denmark has scored 90 marks to maintain its position in the CPI for the last seven years, while South Sudan has been labeled as the most corrupt country with eight points.
The country scoring 100 points is ranked as the least corrupt country while the one with a zero score is categorized as the most corrupt, according to the CPI.
Among the South Asian countries, Bhutan has scored 72 points, followed by India with 38 while Maldives, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan have scored 38, 32, 27, 23 and 17, respectively.
Similarly, northern neighbor China has scored 43 points.
