The Nepal women's team for the International Women's Championship, 2025 has been announced. The majority of players have been chosen for ANFA's competition, taking place at Dasharath Stadium from February on 17-26.
The 23-member team captained by Anjila Tumbapo Subba has two new players. Manmaya Damai and Sushma Tamang have been selected for the national team for the first time.
The women's team, headed by Rajendra Tamang, includes goalkeepers Anjila, Anjana Rana Magar and Usha Nath. The defenders are Amrita Jaishi, Geeta Rana, Bimala BK, Pooja Rana, Nisha Thokar, Samiksha Ghimire, Bimala Chaudhary and Manmaya Damai.
Along with Anita Basnet, Renuka Nagarkoti, Preeti Rai, Saru Limbu, Sabita Rana Magar, Renuka Hamal and Sushma Tamang are the midfielders.
Similarly, Sabitra Bhandari, Rekha Paudel, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Chandra Bhandari and Anita KC have been included as strikers. Four teams are participating in the preparatory tournament for the AFC Women's Asia Cup and FIFA Women's World Cup.
While the Kyrgyzstan team will arrive in Kathmandu on Thursday, Myanmar and Lebanese team will arrive on Friday.
Arrangements have been made for their training at the ANFA Complex ground and the sports ground at the Nepal Army headquarters in Bhadrakali.
This is the first international women's football tournament taking place in Nepal involving four countries. The matches will initially be held on a round-robin format. The final match will be played between the top two teams. The matches will be held at 2 pm and 6 pm.
Tickets for the tournament are priced at Rs 500 for general and Rs 1,000 for VIP seats. Tickets can be purchased through the Khalti app, ANFA said.
