The International Women's Championship Football Tournament staring at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu today.
The first match will be played between Myanmar and Lebanon at 2 PM, while Nepal and Kyrgyzstan will compete at 6 PM.
Nepal is facing Kyrgyzstan after six years. In their previous encounter, Nepal defeated Kyrgyzstan 8-2. To strengthen their claim for the title, Nepal needs to overcome Kyrgyzstan, who are considered relatively weaker.
Myanmar and Lebanon are strong teams. However, Nepal's head coach Rajendra Tamang said that Kyrgyzstan's team has also improved significantly in recent times, so they cannot be underestimated.
Nepal's star forward Sabitra Bhandari will not be available for the first match. Coach Tamang informed that she will be arriving from France today and will be given rest.
Nepal, which has been struggling to win titles, wants to lift the trophy on home ground. They missed the opportunity to win the SAFF Women's Championship twice in a row.
Last time, they were defeated by Bangladesh in the final at home. However, Nepal's captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba said that they will not repeat the past mistakes.
