Nepali Embassy in India holds discussion with Kalinga Institute in Odisha

The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, India has urged the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India to allow Nepali students to continue living in the hostel of the institute, and ensure their safety.

The embassy has stated that upon receiving the information regarding the developments at the KIIT, a discussion was held with the registrar and other representatives of the Institute and request made to ensure the Nepali students' safety and arrangements for them to stay in the hostel.

The embassy has also requested that necessary arrangements be made for the conduct of classes for the Nepali students studying at the institute. “As requested by the embassy, the KIIT authorities have informed that arrangements would be made for the Nepal students to continue to stay in the hostel and to conduct classes accordingly,” the embassy has said in a statement issued today.

In addition, the KIIT administration has also expressed its commitment to take the matter of the death of a Nepali student seriously and ensure investigation in an independent and impartial manner.

"The embassy is in regular contact with the Nepali students, the Central Government of India, the Chief Minister's Office of Odisha, and other relevant Indian agencies, and the necessary support and coordination is being provided by these agencies. The affected Nepali students and their parents can contact the embassy in case of any inquiry and problems," the statement said. (RSS)
