The government has called for talks with a group protesting the construction of a cable car in the Mukkumlung area.

The coordinator of the government's negotiating team, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, has urged the agitating group to come for talks to resolve the social, religious, cultural issues they have raised regarding the construction of the cable car in the Pathibhara area.

The no cable car group has demanded that a ministerial-level negotiating team be formed and that they be allowed to discuss the matter with the minister to reach a resolution.

Earlier talks with the Bhattarai-led team did not yield any results.

There was a clash on Thursday between those who wanted the cable car to be built and those who did not.

After the clash turned violent, the police fired several rounds of tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. A total of 12 individuals including 11 security personnel and one protestor sustained injuries in the clash.
