The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has asserted that a recent directive issued by the Supreme Court's Judgment Enforcement Directorate is illegal.
The Directorate had ordered the NRNA secretariat to be handed over to a committee led by former president Shesh Ghale, a move the NRNA disputes. In a formal response, the NRNA questioned the legal basis of the Directorate's directive, arguing that its current committee is operating legitimately in line with the Association's statute.
The NRNA vehemently stated that no Supreme Court order has disrupted its continuity, and it considers the transfer of sensitive documents without legal justification as inappropriate.
While affirming its commitment to implementing court decisions, the NRNA argues that the current directive lacks legal foundation. This dispute stems from differing interpretations of previous Supreme Court rulings, with the current NRNA leadership, under Dr. Badri KC, claiming its legitimacy from a separate court decision.
They have also announced that the NRNA's 12th general convention will be held in Kathmandu from October 11 to 14.
