The writ petition filed by Kulman Ghising, who has been removed as Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has been scheduled for hearing today.
A single bench of Justice Abdul Aziz Musalman will conduct a preliminary hearing today, said Nirajan Pandey, the spokesperson for the apex court.
The writ petition registered in the court yesterday has been scheduled for hearing today.
Ghising filed the petition at the court on Wednesday evening, mentioning the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Energy, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, and newly elected Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya as defendants.
Ghising in the writ has sought a stay order on the government's decision to sack him and immediately allow him to carry out his duties, arguing that the government's decision is driven by ill-intent and against the existing rules.
The cabinet meeting on Monday evening relieved him of his post and appointed Shakya as the new Managing Director in his place. Kulman was was terminated from his post four months before the expirty of his term.
Hitendra Dev has already started discharging his duties.
Shakya also registered a writ petition on Thursday itself requesting the Supreme Court not to initiate the new petition with hearing the first one.
Shakya had filed a writ four years ago after the government transferred him to the Water and Energy Commission even though he was appointed for a four-year term from February 11, 2021 to February 10, 2025.
Shakya, who was appointed by the KP Oli-led government, had been transferred to the Water and Energy Commission by the Deuba-led government.
