The government has reshuffled and downsized the security team deployed for former King Gyanendra Shah. The security personnel were replaced on Friday midnight.

According to a source at the Armed Police Force Headquarters, the previous 26-member team was recalled and replaced with a new 16-member team. Earlier, a 26-member team led by DSP Jagadish Hamal was stationed at Gyanendra’s residence.

This team has now been replaced by a 16-member squad under the command of DSP Pramod Prakash Pathak, who is currently serving in the 9th Battalion in Balambu.

Although VIP security protocols allow for a 16-member team, the government had previously been deploying 26 personnel for the former king’s security.
