Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has consulted former Prime Ministers and former foreign ministers on his upcoming visit to Thailand and participation in the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

During the consultation meeting held at Office of the PM and Council of Ministers, Singh Durbar on Sunday, PM Oli was suggested utilizing the forum for the utmost benefit of the country in economic development, energy, tourism and cultural exchanges.

This is the first official visit the PM is holding to Thailand, so he could utilize the visit for the progress in different sectors.

On the occasion, PM Oli said he would make use of the visit for Nepal's interest being sensitive to others' interests and national commitment to world peace and regional cooperation. He underlined the need of making active the SAARC and Non-Aligned Movement. The suggestions on reaping benefits from the BIMSTEC would be taken into account, he assured.

PM Oli is having an official visit to Thailand from April 1 to 5 at the invitation of his Thai counterpart, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, and willing to be attending the BIMSTEC summit.

Former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, former Chair of Council of Ministers, Khilraj Regmi, Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, and former foreign ministers Upendra Yadav, Ishwor Pokhrel, Raghubir Mahaseth, Dr Bhesh Bahadur Thapa, Ramesh Nath Pande, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, NP Saud and Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal gave suggestions to the PM during the consultation.
