A meeting has taken place between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
The meeting occurred in Bangkok, Thailand after the conclusion of the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
The meeting took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, the same hotel where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is staying. The Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister Oli, however, is staying at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok.
The Oriental Hotel, where the Indian delegation including Modi is staying, is about a 15-minute distance from the Shangri-La Hotel, where the Nepali delegation is accommodated.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had arrived in Bangkok just yesterday (Thursday). During this visit, he is also preparing for his trip to Sri Lanka after being re-elected.
Earlier, Prime Minister Oli and his Indian counterpart Modi had held talks in New York while attending the United Nations General Assembly.

On behalf of Nepal, Prime Minister Oli had also extended an invitation to Modi for an official visit.
So far, neither the efforts to bring Modi to Nepal have been successful, nor has Oli received an invitation to visit India.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has visited India three times. These visits by Rana to ease the "strained relations" between the two prime ministers do not seem to have been fruitful yet.
