Lawmakers ask govt to address genuine demands of teachers

Lawmakers have demanded that the government should immediately address the genuine demands of the teachers.

No sooner the House began on Tuesday, than the lawmakers of the opposition parties stood up from their respective seats and urged the government to address the demands of the agitating teachers.

After the protest of the opposition party lawmakers, Speaker Devraj Ghimire allowed Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Center), Hitraj Pandey, to express his views.

On the occasion, lawmaker Pandey said discussions should be held on the resolution of urgent public importance registered in the parliament on Monday. The resolution was registered in order to take initiatives to address the demands of agitating teachers. He asked Speaker Ghimire to issue a ruling to hold discussion in the parliament on the resolution and find out the solution to the problems today itself.

Similarly, Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), Mahesh Bartaula, claimed that the government was serious to address the genuine demands of agitating teachers. He said it was necessary to settle the problems by holding discussiond with teachers immediately. "The Education Minister has been holding discussions continuously with representatives of teachers on the issues raised in the House. I am hopeful that there will be a breakthrough by this evening", mentioned Bartaula.

Likewise, lawmaker Prem Ale demanded fair investigation on the issue of financial embezzlement at Pokhara and Bhairahawa International Airport. Expressing concern over increasing attack of wild animals at different places of the country, parliamentarian Shova Gyawali drew the attention of the concerned bodies to resolve the problems.

Another lawmaker Gyan Bahadur Shahi urged the government to be serious to address the demands of agitating teachers.
