Altogether 10 climbers including five Nepalis stood atop the Mt Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, last Saturday.
This is the first ascent of the 8,586 meters- Mountain for this year, allowing all other aspiring climbers to begin their summit bids.
Those scaling the mountain situated in Taplejung district were Flutura Ibrahimi of Kosovo, Adrian Michael Hayes of the UK, Alireza Behpour and Seyedhamidreza Hashemi of Iran and Saeed Almemari of the United Arab Emirates.
Likewise, the Sherpas reaching atop the Mt Kangchenjunga along with the team of foreign climbers are Lhakpa Temba Sherpa, Phur Sona Sherpa, Ngima Dorchi Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa and Chhangba Sherpa, shared Thaneshwor Guragain, Manager of the Seven Summit Treks which managed the expedition for the team.
He said that the team set their feet on the top of the Mt Kangchenjunga at 2:15 PM after a 20 hour of summit push that had began from Camp IV of the mountain the previous day.
This year, an impressive number of aspiring international climbers are attempting to scale the mountain whose number stands at 70. An equal number of Sherpas would be joining them in their expedition, the Seven Summit Treks said in its social media account.
