Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held bilateral talks today in Hong Kong. The meeting took place during Dr. Rana's visit to China's Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong as an observer nation for the signing ceremony of the international convention on establishing a mediation organization, at the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang.
During the cordial meeting, discussions focused on Nepal-China relations, mutual interests, shared concerns, and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations being celebrated by both countries this year. Dr. Rana expressed Nepal's appreciation for China's long-standing support in socio-economic development and thanked the Chinese government and people through Foreign Minister Wang. She also highlighted Nepal's expectations for continued Chinese cooperation in areas such as economic assistance, technology transfer, and foreign direct investment.

Reaffirming Nepal's commitment to the One-China policy, Dr Rana emphasized that Nepali territory would never be used against China. She also extended gratitude to China for its participation in the recently held Sagarmatha Dialogue and invited Foreign Minister Wang to visit Nepal on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Additionally, she mentioned Nepal's eagerness to welcome more Chinese tourists, as 2025 has been designated as the "Nepal Visit Year."
Foreign Minister Wang congratulated Nepal on the successful organization of the Sagarmatha Dialogue and expressed China's readiness to collaborate on climate change mitigation and environmental protection. He assured continued Chinese support and highlighted the potential for future coordination through the newly established mediation organization. Wang also urged the Nepali government to expedite the implementation of agreements made during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China last December. Accepting Dr Rana's invitation, he confirmed his upcoming visit to Nepal.
