Veteran music composer, singer and litterateur Ganesh Rasik has passed away. He was 78.
Rasik breathed his last in the course of treatment at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Lalitpur at 11 AM. Funeral rites for Rasik will be performed once his only daughter arrives in Nepal from the United Kingdom, his family sources have said.
His body has been kept at TU Teaching Hospital.
Kshitijlai Chhuna Khojda (collection of stories, 2024 BS), Rasikka Geetharu (collection of songs, 2046 BS), Akash Gangako Otmuni (Novel, 2048 BS), Jaba Sisnuharu Tekdai Hinde (Memoir, 2055 BS), Swadhintako Peeda (collection of songs, 2068 BS) are some of his notable works to his credit.
Born on September 20, 1947 at Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-2, Naulagaun, in Bhojpur district, to parents Narottam Rai and Ratna Maya Rai, septuagenarian Rasik had been battling protest cancer for the last five years.
He had held high-level positions in prestigious institution including as chairperson and general manager of Ratna Recording Corporation (2038 to 2040 BS), general manager of Cultural Corporation, as chairperson and general manager of Sajha Publications (2052-2055 BS) and as member secretary of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama (2072-2075 BS).
