Nepal has received a 226-run target from Netherlands in the triangular series of the ICC World Cup League 2 underway in Scotland on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Forthill Cricket Stadium in Dundee, Netherlands notched up 225 runs losing all wickets in 49.1 overs.
Noah Croes topped the score with 48 runs including 5 fours off 55 balls followed by captain Scott Edwards with 46 runs including 4 fours off 71 deliveries while Zach Lion-Cachet and Roelof van der Merwe contributed 27 and 21 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
To restrict the opponent to paltry 225 runs, Sompal Kami claimed the highest 3 wickets followed by Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi with 2 wickets each for Nepal.
Having secured a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Scotland in the first match of the series on Monday, the Nepali team wants to maintain the same winning streak.
Meanwhile, Netherlands is playing its first match of the series and is looking for a flying start.
This is the first encounter between Nepal and Netherlands in the League-2 series since February 2024. In their previous meeting held in Nepal's home ground, Kirtipur, Nepal had defeated Netherlands in one match but lost the other.
In the League-2 standings, Nepal is in the seventh position with three wins, eight losses and 2 draws out of 13 matches played so far. It has collected 8 points so far.
On the other hand, Netherlands is in the 2nd position with 12 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws out of 20 matches played so far. It has notched up 26 points.
