Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers have demanded the formation of new government under the leadership of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The newly elected people's representatives from the NC met party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Baluwatar today and demanded the formation of new government under his own leadership, according to lawmaker Chanda Chaudhari.

They argued that NC must lead the coming government as it emerged the largest party in the House of Representatives.

In response, PM Deuba said he took their demand seriously and would inform as the development unfolds.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had given a week's deadline for claiming stake for prime minister, which is ending tomorrow, Sunday.

The Nepali Congress emerged the largest party by securing 89 seats in the House of Representatives.
