American Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav at the latter's office in Lainchaur.
During the meeting, along with exchange of greetings, discussions were held on various aspects of Nepal-American relations, bilateral cooperation, diplomatic partnership, and future possibilities, said the vice president's secretariat.
Vice President Yadav stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1947, Nepal and the United States of America have enjoyed a cordial and mutually respectful relationship.
He said, "Democracy, human rights, and freedom are our shared values, which have strengthened our bilateral relationship."
Vice President Yadav on the occasion expressed gratitude for the development assistance provided by the American government to Nepal since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1951.
He further said that he is optimistic about the resumption of infrastructure projects being operated under the millennium challenge corporation (MCC) and programs being conducted through USAID.
During the event, Ambassador Thompson affirmed that MCC, USAID, and other development programs are making consistent and positive progress.
He mentioned that the Nepali community in America plays a very active and vibrant role, stating that Nepal and the US can work together to accomplish significant bilateral goals.
