The death toll in the Sangareddy factory blast in Telangana rose to 37 overnight, with the numbers expected to climb further today on Tuesday as rescue and recovery efforts continue at the site of the explosion.

Meanwhile, a special forensic team from Osmania General Hospital has been brought in to assist with post mortems and DNA sample collection. So far, autopsies have been completed on 15 bodies, with only four victims identified.

A massive explosion ripped through Sigachi Industries Private Limited, a pharmaceutical unit in Pashamylaram near Hyderabad, on Monday (June 30, 2025) morning.

A majority of the victims were trapped under the production unit housing the reactor when it collapsed. The drugmaker said the blast has damaged the core manufacturing infrastructure and operations at the facility are being paused temporarily.  (With inputs from The HindU)
