Nepali Congress former General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala has reminded concerned parties that while the constitution amendment was the main goal of the ruling alliance, the work has not moved ahead.

Speaking at the Central Working Committee meeting in Sanepa on Sunday, Koirala urged the ruling parties to take forward the constitution amendment work at the earliest.

While addressing the CWC meeting, Koirala floated the proposal to replace the term 'secularism' with 'religious freedom' in the Constitution.

Meanwhile, he also called for a change in the electoral system. "Let's adopt proportional representation (PR) system in the National Assembly while the House of Representatives should be elected through the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system," he proposed.
