A Pathao rider died after being hit by an EV microbus in Tokha Municipality-6 in Kathmandu.
An EV microbus, Ba. Pra.-01-002 Ja 7378, hit a scooter, Ba. Pra.-02-044 Pa 6405, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old youth. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around at 3:30 PM.
The deceased has been identified as Sonam Yonjan, 24, originally from Hariwan Municipality-1, Sarlahi, who was currently residing in Thali, Bhaktpur.
His body has been kept at Grande International Hospital. Police reported that Yonjan, who was critically injured in the accident, died during treatment at Grande International Hospital in Tokha.
However, the victim’s father, Rajkumar Yonjan, said the incident appeared suspicious. He stated that his son was hit by the microbus coming from the opposite direction while riding his scooter in his own lane, leading to his death.
The victim’s family has refused to receive the body, demanding an impartial investigation into Sonam's death and action against the culprit.
“He had returned to his home country thinking of doing something here in Nepal,” said Rajkumar, the grieving father, “At the time of his death, his grandson was just nine months old—we have lost our son.”
He urged the police to conduct a fair investigation, stating that the incident seemed suspicious.
