A helicopter of Nepali Army which was allegedly held in the Chinese territory has returned to Nepal. The helicopter, which flew to Rasuwa on Tuesday for the rescue of the people trapped in the flashfloods in the Bhotekoshi River had been held by 'Chinese security forces' for allegedly breaching the Chinese sky, according to the local security sources.
However, the Nepali Army claimed that the chopper made an emergency landing in the Chinese territory due to some technical glitches. The helicopter returned on Wednesday morning and now is being used for the rescue and search for the missing people in the flood-hit Rasuwa, Nepali Army spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet said.
"The Nepali Army has already started its search and rescue operations for the missing people since early morning today. The helicopter is being used for the rescue and search operations of the missing people in the flood-hit district Rasuwa," said Brigadier General Basnet.
Twenty people went missing in the swollen Bhotekoshi River. Of them, the body of ASI Lal Bahadur Shrestha has been identified. The other bodies have also been recovered from Dhading, Nuwakot and Chitwan but they are yet to be identified, said the police.
The security forces have been carrying out rescue and search operations.
