Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has called a meeting of his faction after the Central Disciplinary Committee of Nepali Congress took action against the leaders loyal to him.
Shekhar, who is unhappy claiming that most of the leaders facing action by the party's Discipline Committee are from his side, has called the meeting for Thursday morning at 8 AM. The meeting will be held at his liaison office in Bishalnagar.
"Mr Koirala has called central members, ministers, parliamentarians, and leaders from his faction," a leader close to him told Nepalkhabar. "The meeting will discuss the action taken by the Disciplinary Committee. The rest will be known tomorrow."
The Disciplinary Committee has taken action against 18 leaders, including the General Secretary of Lumbini Province, the district president of Khotang, and the outgoing district president of Kaski, expelling them from the party for one year.
Lumbini General Secretary Bikram Khanal, Khotang President Bishnu Kumar Rai, and outgoing Kaski President Krishna KC are leaders from the Shekhar faction. Besides them, most of the leaders facing action are claimed to be from Shekhar's group.
Earlier, during the recently held Central Working Committee meeting, Shekhar had also raised questions about the role of the Disciplinary Committee.
