Bodies of eight people, out of nine, killed in the flash floods that occurred in Rasuwa on Tuesday have been brought to Kathmandu for a post-mortem at Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Only one has been identified yet, said Spokesperson of the Nepal Police Headquarters, Deputy Inspector General, Binod Ghimire.
The last rites of those whose identity was ascertained were performed on Wednesday itself. Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Lal Bahadur Shrestha, who went missing in flood from Rasuwa, was found dead at Trishuli river bank at a place called 15 kilo in Chitwan. The family members of Shrestha received the body and performed his last rites. Nineteen people are still missing in Rasuwa floods. A DNA test is being carried out to identity the remaining bodies.
Two police persons, six Chinese nationals and 11 ordinary people are still missing in the floods. The flash floods washed away the Miteri bridge located at Nepal-China bordering, 24 containers, six trucks and 35 electric vehicles.
Search for the missing people are underway at coastal areas in different districts, shared Spokesperson of Bagmati Province Police Office, Sanjay Singh Thapa. Similarly, rescue operation for those stranded at different area of Rasuwa was underway, added police.
