A couple have been found dead in their own house in a suspicious manner at Babiya, Inaruwa Municipality-9 in Sunsari district on Sunday morning.
Following a preliminary investigation, the police have stated that the husband murdered his wife and then committed suicide.
According to the police, the husband murdered his wife over a common domestic dispute before taking his own life.
Forty-two-year-old Sudip Sharma Khatwe and his 32-year-old younger wife, Navita Khatun, were found dead inside their house on Sunday.
Based on investigations conducted throughout Sunday, the police initially found that Sudip had hanged himself with a saree rope on the veranda of the house after killing his wife. Navita was found dead in the bedroom of the house.
After the incident, both bodies were taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for postmortem.
DSP Suman Timalsina of the Sunsari District Police Office, said that detailed conclusions will be made public only after the postmortem report.
Sudip's first wife lives in Kathmandu, while he had been living in Inaruwa with his younger wife.
