Women's Football Team Head Coach Patrick De Wilde.
Patrick De Wilde has resigned as head coach of the Nepal women's national football team, citing internal politics and management issues within the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). In his resignation letter, De Wilde expressed his inability to continue under the current circumstances.
ANFA sources confirmed receiving his resignation via email but stated that a final decision will be made after discussions within a week. "The resignation has been received but not yet accepted. We have asked for clarification and will decide formally after review," an ANFA official said.
Earlier, ANFA had sought an explanation from De Wilde regarding controversies during Nepal’s AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in Uzbekistan, particularly concerning team captaincy disputes. In response, De Wilde reportedly criticized ANFA's administrative interference.
ANFA spokesperson Suresh Shah said he had only heard of the resignation through media reports, as the office was closed on Saturday. ANFA President and General Secretary were unavailable for immediate comments.
The dispute escalated after ANFA officials publicly blamed De Wilde for the captaincy controversy during the Uzbekistan matches.
