CPN (UML) is facing internal polarization over former President Bidya Devi Bhandari's potential political comeback. While some welcome her return, Chairman KP Sharma Oli's faction opposes it. Following a meeting between Oli and Bhandari, UML Standing Committee member Sher Bahadur Tamang reiterated that Oli will remain chairman, citing party statutes removing age and term limits.

Speaking during an interview with Nepalkhabar's TATKALAI, Tamang argued that Bhandari, as a former president, should not be dragged into party disputes, calling her a "national guardian" who should remain above factional politics. He also warned against indiscipline among members criticizing the party online.

When asked about other leaders returning to politics after constitutional roles, Tamang emphasized the presidency’s unique apolitical status. He also hinted at a cabinet reshuffle, criticizing ministers for poor performance and corruption allegations.

When asked about leftist unity, Tamang ruled out immediate reunification with the CPN (Maoist Center) unless they accept UML’s leadership, asserting that UML won’t dissolve for alliance efforts.
