A delegation led by Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar.
During the meeting, discussions were held on mutual relations between the two countries, the implementation of four bilateral agreements signed during Monday’s talks at the Finance Ministry, and past development cooperation agreements reached during high-level visits, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the long-standing and friendly relations between Nepal and China, reiterating Nepal’s commitment to the "One China Policy." Oli expressed gratitude for China’s prioritization of necessary infrastructure reconstruction at the flood-damaged Rasuwagadhi border point, assuring that the Nepali side would also extend full cooperation.
PM Oli emphasized the need to expedite the operationalization of additional border points and projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework to transform Nepal from a "landlocked" to a "land-linked" nation. "The timely execution of BRI projects and smooth operation of transit points are crucial for Nepal’s connectivity and economic growth," he said.
The meeting was attended by PM’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier on Monday, the Chinese delegation held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel regarding ongoing and upcoming China-assisted projects. The talks culminated in the signing of four project agreements, further strengthening development collaboration between the two nations.
