A sister and brother have died after eating wild mushrooms in Rukum East, while two others have been taken ill seriously.
Rukum East police have said that Rajkumari BK's 3-year-old son Yojan BK and 7-year-old daughter Bhagyarekha BK, residents of Bhume Rural Municipality-5, Serabang, died after eating poisonous mushrooms.
According to the police, Yojan, who was seriously ill, died at Salyan District Hospital and Bhagyarekha at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences in the course of treatment last night.
Their mother, 35-year-old Rajkumari BK, and her other daughter, 9-year-old Ayusha BK, have fallen seriously ill after eating mushrooms.
Police have said that Ayusha is undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj while Rajkumari is receiving treatment at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences in Dang.
They fell ill after eating wild mushrooms brought from the forest on the evening of July 18 and were taken to the hospital for treatment the next day.
Two children died due to delay in treatment. It has been revealed that Rajkumari, who lives in Rukum West, has been staying with her parents in Rukum East for a year after her relationship soured with her husband.
