A fire broke out in the engine of an IndiGo ATR76 flight bound for Diu from Ahmedabad, India today.

The aircraft with 60 passengers on board was preparing for takeoff on the runway when the pilot sent an emergency 'Mayday' call to the Air Traffic Control (ATC), resulting in the cancellation of the flight, according to Indian media reports.

The incident occurred around 11 AM. Following this, all passengers were evacuated safely. An investigation into the incident is underway.

Earlier on Tuesday, an Air India flight 315 arriving from Hong Kong also caught fire in its Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) immediately after landing at Delhi Airport.
