Death toll from Bajura road mishap climbs to 3

The death toll in the Bajura road accident has reached three after one more injured breathed her last in the course of treatment.

Juneli Rokaya, 35, of Himali Rural Municipality-5, who was seriously injured in the accident, died during treatment, said Dev Bahadur Chaudhary, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Bajura.

Two of the 19 people in the jeep died on the spot. The deceased are Bijaura Rokaya, 76, and Banchikala Rokaya, 75.

Police have stated that the condition of 13 among those injured is critical. Chaudhary said that the condition of the other three injured is normal.

Bajura Chief District Officer (CDO) Meghnath Padhya informed that the Nepal Army helicopter is taking the initiative to take the injured to the hospital. He said that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs to this effect.

So far, the injured are being treated by the rural municipality's health workers in Tunigada.

The jeep, Ba.Pro. 03-001 Ja 0338, which was heading to the office of ward number 5 from coming from the local Kyudi village, met with an accident in Tunigada. The jeep fell some 300 meters down the unpaved road.
