The two sisters, who were found dead in Bhaktapur this morning, had reportedly gone missing from India.

Menuka Kandel, 17, and Srijana Kandel, 15, who were found dead in Bode, Bhaktapur on Thursday morning, are permanent residents of Tinkune, Panchapuri Municipality-8, Surkhet.

The bodies of Menuka and Srijana were found at Chakradhar Prajapati's house in Bode Sintitar, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-8, Bhaktapur. After seeing their bodies on the ground floor of a two-story house, locals informed the police.

Ward Chairman of Panchapuri Municipality-8, Surkhet, Deepak Kumar Thapa, informed that the sisters whose bodies were found were from Tinkune Dulalthai village in his ward.

"The sisters' father's name is Balaram (Basudev) Kandel. He has been living in India for employment with his wife. The sisters' two uncles are in Korea.'

Ward President Thapa informed that he received the news that they had gone missing from India some time ago.

The deceased sisters' mother, Uma Kandel, had given an interview to local Sigas Television saying that her daughters had gone missing from Mira Bhayandar in Mumbai three weeks ago.

During the interview, Uma Kandel said that her daughters had left home to go to a computer class. She said, "They left home to go to a computer class. They are supposed to come home from the computer class at 7 PM. When they did not come home by 7 PM, I called them. But they did not answer. I left a voice message telling them to come home to make roti, cook food.

After a while, they also sent a voice message saying, "We are not here. We went to Bangalore. We will meet you only after we earn money." The younger sister, Sirjana, had sent that message.

After receiving this voice message, Uma called her husband and informed him about it. The Kandel couple then urged everyone to search for their daughters.

Ward Chairman Thapa said that the Kandel family has been living in India for a long time.
