A teenage boy has been arrested after his girlfriend passed away during her visit to his house at Imadol in Lalitpur.

Following the death of an 18-year-old teenager from Bojhepokhari, Mahalaxmi Municipality-3, Lalitpur, her 18-year-old boyfriend Aryan Pandey from Imadol, Lalitpur, has been arrested, said SP Chakra Raj Joshi of the District Police Range, Lalitpur.

"During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that they were in a romantic relationship," SP Joshi told Nepalkhabar. "Following the girl’s death, we have apprehended the boy. The teenager’s body has been kept at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, for a postmortem."

The girl had fainted while with the boy and was taken to Kist Hospital in Gwarko for treatment on Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, the doctor confirmed that she had already passed away.

According to the police, the teenage girl had gone to her boyfriend Pandey’s house in Imadol around 12 PM on Wednesday.

The preliminary police investigation revealed that they had been in a romantic relationship for a few months after getting to know each other through social media. As their relationship grew, they had planned to meet. This was the first time the girl had visited her boyfriend’s house.

The boy informed the police that while the two were sitting together in the room on Wednesday afternoon, the girl suddenly fainted. After she lost consciousness, the boy informed his father.

Upon receiving the news, the boy’s father took the girl to Kist Hospital, where doctors declared her dead, the police stated. Chief Operating Officer of the hospital, Amis Pathak, confirmed that she had already passed away before arrival.

After the incident, police from the Satdobato Police Circle arrested the boy. He is currently in custody at Satdobato Police Station, and further interrogation regarding the incident is underway.

"The cause of death has not been determined yet," SP Joshi said. "Once the postmortem report comes out, the exact cause of death will be revealed." The police also reported that a "love letter" given by the girl to the boy was found at the scene.

The police further informed that both of them were Class 12 students.
