A girl who went to watch the Teej dance on the evening of August 7 in Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality, Dailekh, has been raped. It has been revealed that two youths from the same village raped the girl brutally.

The District Police Office, Dailekh, has informed that the two individuals involved in the rape of the girl have been apprehended. Those arrested are 23-year-old Govinda Bahadur Shahi and 25-year-old Khagendra Bhandari from Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality-8.

The two boys chased 12-year-old girl of their neighborhood and took turns raping her while she was returning home after participating in Teej festivities, according to the preliminary investigation of the police.

"On the evening of August 7 (Thursday), a group of 4-5 teenage girls were returning home after watching the Teej dance," Police Inspector Lal Bahadur Sunar told Nepalkhabar. "At that time, Govinda and Khagendra chased them. Sensing the danger, the girls tried to run away, but Govinda and Khagendra did not stop pursuing them. They caught one of the girls and took turns raping her."

The police reported that the other girls managed to escape and save themselves. The accused also allegedly attacked the victim with stones.

Due to injuries sustained from the stone attack on her hand, the girl could not run far. Then the accused took her to a secluded spot and took turns raping her, the police said.

According to Sunar, the girls who managed to escape immediately informed their families about the incident, after which the parents rushed to the scene.

Upon realizing that the girl's parents had arrived, the accused left her unconscious and fled, the police said.

The girl was taken to the hospital for treatment on the same day the incident occurred. Doctors involved in her treatment reported that her right hand was injured, and she had wounds on her private parts.

The victim's kin lodged a complaint with the police on Friday. Based on the complaint, the two youths were arrested, as confirmed by the District Police Office, Dailekh.

The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Dailekh. Police Inspector Sunar stated that her condition is gradually improving.
