Sunsari Bus-TATA Winger collision hits 4 after one more injured passes away

The death toll from the bus-TATA Winger collision that occurred in Sunsari has reached four after an injured passed away during treatment at Global Cardio and Neuro Hospital in Bhokraha.

Among those injured, three have been discharged while 20 others are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

 Among the four killed in the accident, two have been identified as Shankar Mandal, 35, from Mahadeva Rural Municipality-6, Saptari, and Laxman Sadak, 70, from Koshi Rural Municipality-6, Sunsari.

Additionally, one person died at Global Cardio and Neuro Hospital in Bhokraha, Sunsari and the other woman of around 50 years breathed her last in the course of treatment at District Hospital, Sunsari, the police confirmed.

However, their identities are yet to be ascertained, SP Suman Timalsina of DPO, Sunsari said.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus (Na 1 Kha 1799) heading toward Diktel, Khotang from Kankadbhitta collided head-on with a TATA Winger (Pra 2-01-001 Ja 0047) coming from the opposite direction at Jaluwa in Bhokraha Narasingh Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, along the East-West Highway this morning.

Meanwhile, the bus driver, 36-year-old Gopal Adhikari from Arjundhara Municipality-1, Jhapa, has been taken under control, while the TATA Winger driver is injured and undergoing treatment.
