Two young men have died when two motorcycles collided at Bhimeshwar Municipality in Dolakha last night.
The District Police Office, Dolakha, informed that two youths, including the Student Union President of Gaurishankar Multiple Campus located in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha, died in the accident.
The two motorcycles, Ba 53 Pa 8889 and Ba Pra 02-034 Pa 3242 collided with each other at Ramite Danda in Bhimeshwar Municipality-6 around at 9:30 pm, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Shirish Basnet, the Student Union President, informed Inspector Shriram Timalsina of the District Police Office, Dolakha.
They had sustained serious injuries in the accident and breathed their last during treatment at Chhorolpa Hospital in Charikot. Basnet, a leader of ANNFSU Student Union, had been elected as the Student Union President of Gaurishankar Multiple Campus in the Student Union election held five months ago (Chaitra) through an alliance between ANNFSU and ANNISU-R.
Basnet was a local resident of Mati in Bhimeshwar Municipality-5. Sujan, 26, also known as Shyam Bahadur Khatri, a resident of Mirge, Baiteshwar Rural Municipality-3, was also riding pillion on the motorcycle, Ba 53 Pa 8889, driven by Basnet. The police informed that he also died in the accident.
The police stated that the accident occurred when the motorcycle driven by Basnet collided with motorcycle Ba.Pra.02-034 Pa 3242 on the Lamo Sangu Jiri road section.
In the accident, the driver of motorcycle, Ba Pra 02-034 Pa 3242, 25-year-old Nirmal Khadka, a resident of Baiteshwar Gaupalika-5, sustained minor injuries.
The police have taken him under control. Inspector Timalsina informed that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
