Paswan, a local of Madhav Narayan Municipality-6, was arrested with critical burn injuries from a lawn near Rajdevi Temple around a half km from his house on Wednesday morning.
Following a preliminary treatment at Rautahat-based Better Nepal Hospital, he was brought to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment.
Critically injured Paswan, succumbed to his burn injuries in the course of treatment, according to SP Bohara.
The dead body of Rubikumari had been found inside a suitcase near a mudbalwa gate at Gaur Municipality-9 in Rautahat around 10 pm on Saturday.
Rubikumari, who had married with an Indian man from Muzzaffarpur 13 years ago, was staying in Rautahat for her son's education for the last few months.
Paswan, the alleged lover of Rubikumari, had admitted to have killed her in a public video footage before he attempted to kill himself. He had a tattoo of Rubi's photo on his right chest, along with her name tattooed on his right hand.
Paswan, who has a wife, had gone to Malaysia for employment. Upon his return from Malaysia, he murdered Rubikumari and placed her dead body inside a suitcase.
His plan to dispose the body in a secluded place, however, failed after the rickshaw he was using broke down in the middle of the way, forcing him to abandon the body. He had brought the suitcase from Malaysia, and it was the one in which he stuffed Rubikumari's dead body.
