The government has decided to remove the ban on the social media platforms following massive demonstrations staged by Gen Z on Monday.

A cabinet meeting held on Monday evening took a decision to this effect. The government had decided to ban 26 social media platforms on September 4.

The government was forced to remove the ban due to the violent protests carried out by Gen Z across the country today.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, said the ban on social media has been lifted.

"The ban on social media platform has been removed in view of the protests of the Gen Z. We had put a ban on the platforms in line with the order of the Supreme Court," said Gurung.
