Those killed during Gen Z protest declared martyrs; deceased's families to get Rs 1.5 mln each

The government has decided to declare those who lost their lives in the two-day Gen Z movement as martyrs. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed that a cabinet meeting held today decided to declare the deceased as martyrs.

He also informed that the cabinet meeting decided to cremate the deceased with national honors and mourn on September 17.

He said that it has been decided to provide Rs 1.5 million each to the families of the deceased.

Such amounts will be released through the Ministry of Finance and distributed through the concerned District Administration Office.

Aryal informed that today's meeting also decided that the government will bear transportation expenses of the deceased if they are from remote districts.

Likewise, the government will bear treatment expenses for the injured, according to the decision. Similarly, today's meeting also decided to form a judicial inquiry commission to investigate the Gen Z movement, which is said to have been suppressed.

Aryal further said that the meeting has also decided to build a Gen Z Awakening Memorial Park in memory of the Gen Z who lost their lives on September 8 and 9.
